Tom Hopkins was Commodore in 1989 and 1990.

During these two years, the Central Florida Chapter, American Red Cross reached an agreement with the Navy to conduct the sail training at Lake Baldwin on the Naval Training Center, Orlando.  Sailing courses were offered here until the Naval Training Center fully closed in 1998.

In 1990, the Basic Sailing Program was moved by Sailing Club members to this facility at Lake Baldwin.

Commodore Tom Hopkins.  When last heard from, Tom was in South Florida preparing to sail around the world in a large catamaran.

The Sailing Club entered a boat in the Cardboard Boat Races at Lake Eola Park, Orlando, and won! The Sailing Club also got the "best team effort" trophy.  Lots of club members, lots of blue shirts, and lots of shouts of support did the trick ! ! ! Joe Dahlquist designed the boat.  The paddlers are (l-r) Mike Kelly, Rick Romito, Joe Dahlquist, & Dave Felesky.

Lonnie Keck (holding cake) and Ann Marie Keck (white shirt) put together another great Crab Party, Guitar Strum, July Birthday extravaganza ! ! !

The Sailing Club's cardboard boat construction was a great club effort.  Many volunteers put in long evening hours constructing, waterproofing and painting.
