Penny Potter was Commodore in 1995.

The Central Florida Chapter, American Red Cross, made a business decision this year to cease conducting sailing courses as part of its water safety programs.  As a result, The Sailing Club was offered the opportunity, and time, to seek another sponsor.  The Red Cross agreed it would donate all existing boats, trailers and equipment to a new sponsor.  The Red Cross further agreed to continue sponsoring Basic Sailing Classes while the search for a new sponsor was underway.

As a result, The Sailing Club's officers and board began contacting potential sponsors for the program.  The search continued into 1996.

The Phantoms and the Basic Sailing Courses got into irons in rough water in 1995, because of the need to find a new sponsor.
