Steve Kuiper has become Commodore for 2002. The history for 2002 is still in progress, but Steve has some goals regarding doing a better job of involving more of our members, especially new ones.  The new initiatives are:
  • An Ambassador's Committee to make guests and new members feel at home
  • An orientation manual for new members
  • Quarterly business meetings for the board ( though all members may attend ).
  • A concerted effort to involve as many members as possible in club activities.

Steve says, "If you'd like to get more involved, please let me know and I'll hook you up. "

During 2001, the aging fleet of Phantoms (above) was sold and replaced with Hunter 140s (below).

This is a Hunter 140 being sailed by youths who completed a City of Orlando sailing class for youth.

Sailing instruction using the Hunter 140s began with the March 2001 class.    February 2001 was the 25th Anniversary of the Sailing Club's founding.  Thus, 2001 marks a major milestone in the Club's service to the Central Florida community.

The Sailing Club's prime volunteer activity - teaching safe sailing - has brought thousands into the sport in the 25 years since Judd Wood established The Sailing Club in February 1976
